Paying it Forward!

Cool stuff and big announcement today!

Don’t forget the next posting of Insecure Writer’s Support Group is Wednesday October 5. If you haven’t signed up to participate in this awesome monthly event, click on the tab below my blog header for details.

The very beautiful and talented Elizabeth Mueller is hosting a blogfest to celebrate the release of her first novel! “I'd love to christen Darkspell by brewing up an online "If I had all the magic in the world, I'd ..." spookfesta. On Halloween day, share with me what you'd do if you discovered that you had all the magic in the world at your fingertips.”

Oh, and did anyone see the comments on Blastr about Terra Nova? The good, the bad, and the funny! My favorite was:
“I’m watching Terra Nova on Tivo delay. Someone let me know if Fox cancels it before it ends.”

Now for the big announcement!

This is the brainchild of Matthew at the QQQE. I’m helping with this awesome blogfest.(Okay, I just made the button for it.)

Pay it Forward! October 14, 2011 The idea is to introduce all of us to everyone else. We want this to be easy - meet and follow as many other bloggers as you like. In your post, we would like you to please list, describe, and link to three blogs that you enjoy reading and know that others would enjoy as well. And what’s cool, is this can be part of your regular Friday blogging.

Visit those who’s signed up. Visit those they recommend! If you don’t have time to comment, just follow. Take the weekend to go through the list. You might find some really cool blogs out there, just like you did during the first post of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group or last April during the A to Z Challenge. (Or during any of my odd blogfests. Really, I am a writer and an author! Just a little movie obsessed…)

Now, who’s with us???

And did you watch Tucker & Dale vs. Evil Wednesday night? (It was fun and a really good movie. Very gory, so be prepared.) Seeing it this weekend? Seeing anything? Back of your eyelids perhaps…?

So you didn't like Terra Nova? I was planning to watch that. Both blogfests sound really cool and easy. I signed up. Honestly, I haven't been watching much TV lately...except there's a new series "Ringer" that I'm actually enjoying. Have a good one. :)Looking forward to Wednesday!

Alex I would love to take part i "Pay It Forward" but to be perfectly honest don't know how to link with anyone, when it comes to anything like that I'm like that child on the slide except that kids nowadays know more about computers than me,

Have a good day.
Yvonne.

It seems weird that I ended up third on the list. Even at like 6:15 AM I couldn't get here fast enough. Oh well, it's kind of funny.

I also love how you designed the button with a cash motif. Very clever, Alex!

A lot of good stuff going on here.

I'm in. See you on the 14th!!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Laila, I'll watch a couple more episodes, but it just didn't grab me. Glad you're on board for the fest!

Yvonne, I can show you! I'll email you later.

Matthew, sorry! Posts go live at six and Laila is always the first one here.

Thanks for signing up, Oceangirl.

What an excellent idea. I wish I could do it, but I'm going to be away from 10/13-10/15. I'm bummed. I'm going to advertise this on Facebook now because it sounds like fun.

Matthew MacNish said...

No worries, at least I'm right under you!

Love your blog fests Alex! Just give me a little lean way because I will be on the road this date and will happen then is anyone's guess :)

I woke up today to learn that I'll be spending the weekend with a honey-do list. One chore, but it's a BIG'un.

Natalie Aguirre said...

Awesome idea. I'll check with Casey to be sure she doesn't have anything scheduled before adding myself to the list.

What a great idea for a blogfest! Now to go figure out which three I choose! :D

Love the idea of this blogfest, it's very social, and at the end of the day that's what blogger is all about. :)
Glad you enjoyed Tucker and Dale, Alex. It was so much fun and insanely gory.

I'll make sure I have a post ready for next month's IWSG. Sorry about last month.

Also, I've signed up for the blogfest, can't wait!

The blogfest is sweet! I did this exactly last year and called it "I Got U!" It was really great to meet all the new blogs. I'd be happy to be a part of this fest. :)

Have a fab weekend!!

Christine Rains said...

Cool blogfest! I didn't see Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, but I finally watched Trollhunter last night. It was amusing. It was done Blair Witch style except you got to see the trolls in wonderful clarity. The trolls were pretty awesome. Where do a bunch of kids get a better budget than SyFy?

Have a great weekend!

Talli Roland said...

I'm hosting someone on that date, but I'll put my picks before the guest column. What a fantastic idea, Alex!

Laura Eno said...

I think I'll be watching the backs of my eyelids this weekend, instead of that movie. :)
That's a great idea for a blogfest!

Charles Gramlich said...

I liked Terra Nova OK, although it wasn't quite the NEW type of SF we were sort of promised.

Anonymous said...

Okay. I'm a newbie to blogfests...but I'm going to give this one a try. :)

I saw tweets about Terra Nova all over but didn't watch it. I'm so lame with the not having Tivo or anything. I miss everything.... LOL

Sangu Mandanna said...

It sounds like it's definitely not my kind of movie-week! Love the blog hops and writerly support going around, though.

Marking my calendar so I remember to write about my insecurities this month! Was too distracted by my birthday in Sept. Maybe I felt less insecure because of all the celebrating.

Between the TiVo comment and what I blogged about yesterday, I feel that the only series that's not guaranteed to cancel on me is my own writing. At least, not before my time is up!

Nancy Thompson said...

I liked Terra Nova & am willing to stick it out for a month, if it makes it that far. It has an Avatar meets Jurassic Park feel with a little Lost thrown in.

I signed up for your blogfest. You always throw the best parties, Alex! I can't wait to make some connections.

Unknown said...

Great blog fest idea Matthew has. I signed up and can't wait.

I think I'm the only one who did not tune in for Terra Nova. Just does not appeal to me at all. I'm anxiously awaiting the return of The Walking Dead on Oct. 16. This weekend is edits and concert. Christian Kane is playing Joe's Bar. He's a country act and I don't know how I got hogtied into this, but I intend to have lots of fun.

Mark said...

Rad! I love the pay it forward idea:) I'm in!

Susan Oloier said...

Sounds like a great blogfest! I did the whole linky thing, but my name didn't show up. I'll check in later to see if I have to reenter. It may be that whole operator-error thing.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Theresa, thanks!

Siv, no pressure for you!

Kitty, glad you're excited about that!

George, I was surprised by the 'sweet' element to it.

Clarissa, no worries.

Christine, knew you'd like it. And that is a very good question.

Talli, that's great! I figured this one is short enough, you can still post about something else as well.

Charles, that's a fair description.

Lynn, you'll be glad you did!

LG, that would be totally stunning.

Rusty, that's a good idea.

Jeffrey, that's because you are in control!

Melissa, Walking Dead is much better anyway.

Thanks everyone for joining the fun!

Susan Kaye Quinn said...

Sounds awesome! I'm all linky-ed up but, I'm also clicking through to the Insecure Writer's gig! :) Thanks for the rec!

We'll be watching the back of our eyelids, or Dolphin Tale (with family) or something via netflix or DVD . . . hmmm. Wish the next season of Leverage would show up soon in our mailbox.

I signed up earlier this morning from another blogger's sight. Probably Matthew's. Looking forward to it and meeting new people. Maybe I can get my follower list to hit the century mark.

We'll be watching Dolphin Tail this weekend. Not sure what its about. Hopefully there are wormholes rather than blow holes and a mutant dolphin gone mad and destroying Miami.

It makes me wonder what I do wrong to lose followers. :(

Thanks for the wonderful things you do for us, I hope you have a great weekend.

Paying it forward, count me in! This must be fun! I will try my best to bloghop...when my busy sched bet home and office loosens a bit...:)

It is weekend and I am trying my best to watch a movie on DVD or in HBO but this time, while the storm was busy pounding on my rooftop, I got the chance to watch an old movie titled "StepMom"...watching it alone in my comfort zone made me too emotional, tears, tears, tears...oh gosh, i haven't had a good cry for quite a long time now, and this movie did me good...plus...I guess it is really hard to be a stepmom huh!

Old or new movies, if they have feel-good story lines, I would'nt have second thoughts watching them even when I am alone :)

Thanks Alex, your blog is just as helpful and encouraging me to meet new blog friends...:)

Anonymous said...

Love the idea of Blog it first... if time permits I'll check it out...:)

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Chuck, it might be a great boost for you.

Tyrean, you're a Leverage fan as well? Dig that show!

Stephen, I know you have a challenge with that new blog. And if you've seen How to Train Your Dragon, you've seen a story similar to Dolphin Tales.

Elizabeth, I can never figure it out when that happens...

Amity, glad you had a good cry.
I can imagine being a stepmom is very challenging.

Isis Rushdan said...

Late to the party, but at least I made it. Signed up for the fest. Sounds like a good thing.

Terra Nova, lol, that's another story. Like you, I'll give it a a few more episodes. The plot holes were huge, but it's like they're trying to be Lost without being as interesting.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Hey Julie - welcome!!!

Ruby, I'm sorry if I've missed your posts - I never anticipated all of this!!!
